http://www.bocktriplets.org/articles/2008/02/11/daniel-waved en-us 40 Outnumbered on Day One <p>Yesterday Daniel was sitting in the high chair in the kitchen while I stood on the other side. Lorna stepped into the other room, and I looked at Daniel from across the room and waved, saying &#8220;Hi Daniel&#8221;. He raised his arm and it looked like he waved back, but I thought he was just stretching.</p> <p>&#8220;You should see what Daniel just did&#8230;&#8221;, I called out to Lorna. &#8220;It was a fluke, but it looked like he waved at me.&#8221;</p> <p>I left the room for a minute, and he did the same thing with our friend Karen.</p> <p>Twice.</p> <p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t think that was a fluke&#8230;&#8221;, Lorna called out to me. &#8220;He did it again.&#8221;</p> <p>I came back in the room and he answered my wave a second time, waving back. By now Lorna, Kim, Karen, and I were all in the room waving at him &#8211; he decided he was tired of that game and started wiggling his feet.</p> <p>The kids have been doing a lot of imitating &#8211; facial features, noises, and so on &#8211; but this was the first inkling of imitating communication.
